Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Risk Management or related fields; or Diploma in related disciplines together with significant and relevant professional experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate adaptation or emergency management projects.
Possession of a valid Kenyan motorcycle riding licence, minimum Class A2, and proven ability and willingness to ride a motorcycle in rural and remote areas. The position requires regular travel by motorcycle to project locations.
Proven experience working with rural communities in fragile and semi-arid contexts.
Previous experience in conflict-affected or resource-scarce areas is considered an advantage.
Solid ability to conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
Skills in community facilitation and training.
Good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools.
Excellent command of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of the local language, Pokot, will be considered an asset.
In-depth knowledge of the West Pokot County context and of challenges related to natural and climate-related risks.
Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote areas.
Previous experience with CEFA and/or AICS will be considered an advantage.
